TORONTO, ON, Sept. 13, 2018 – Canadian Business and Maclean’s today ranked HONK – North America’s fastest and most convenient way to find and pay for parking – No. 11 on the 2018 Startup 50 ranking of Canada’s Top New Growth Companies. The Startup 50 ranks younger companies on two-year revenue growth and Startup 50 winners are profiled in a special print issue of Canadian Business published with Maclean’s magazine and online at CanadianBusiness.com.

HONK made the 2018 Startup 50 list with two-year revenue growth of 1,306%. This is the second consecutive year HONK made the list of top growing companies – a testament to the company’s continued growth and recognition of HONK’s significant achievements in transforming parking across North America.

Since its launch in 2013, HONK expanded its parking inventory to include a majority stake of Canada’s postsecondary institutions, Canada’s largest and busiest airport – Toronto Pearson International Airport, and partnered with municipalities and private parking operators from coast to coast to provide safe, affordable and convenient parking.

The HonkAPP allows motorists to seamlessly search, pay for, and top up parking directly from their smartphone, tablet or computer. Payments can be processed with all major credit cards, PayPal and mobile wallets. HONK has eliminated the frustration of circling the block by allowing drivers to reserve a parking spot before they leave the front door. Users receive a 15-minute text notification before their parking is set to expire and the app allows them to buy additional time remotely, removing the hassle of running back to add more time at the meter. You simply click “pay” and walk away. For those without phones, data or the desire to download an app, HONK has just introduced a brand new product to market – a low-cost self serve payment kiosk – HonkKIO.

“The 2018 Startup 50 winners suggest the future of Canadian entrepreneurship is extremely bright. They have brought new offerings to market, created indelible brands and disrupted established business models—all in an extremely short period of time,” says Deborah Aarts, Startup 50 and Growth 500 program manager. “Any aspiring entrepreneur should look to their stories for inspiration.”

“HONK is honoured to be on the Startup 50 ranking for the second year running,” said Founder and CEO, Michael Back. “This achievement reflects the strength and demand of our product, and wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of our team here at HONK. We’re honoured to be in such great company, ranked amongst Canada’s Top New Growth Companies!”
