PORT COLBORNE, ON, June 3, 2021 – HONK, North America’s leading provider of contactless payments for parking, announced a pilot parking program with the City of Port Colborne. Starting immediately, residents and visitors who park at Sugarloaf Marina and the public boat ramp will have access to the safest and fastest contactless payments experience in Canada. Drivers can simply tap or scan their phone on a HonkTAP smart station located onsite for a quick guest checkout experience, or choose to download the free HonkAPP from the App Store or Google Play.
“The City of Port Colborne is thrilled to partner with HONK to offer our boaters a fast and simple way to pay for parking,” said Mark Minor, Sugarloaf Marina Supervisor. “Just in time for summer, this pilot project will create a safe and accessible parking experience for drivers parking their vehicles and boat trailers at the City of Port Colborne’s public boat ramp.“
Located onsite, HonkTAP smart stations allow drivers to safely pay for parking with a quick tap or scan of their phone. With no app to download or pay station to touch, paying for parking is easier and safer than ever. Drivers can also opt to receive text reminders when their parking is set to expire, and can add more time to their parking session directly from their phone – no need to rush back from their boating excursion!
For app lovers, the HonkAPP is another contactless payment option for drivers who wish to pay for parking and manage a session directly from their phone. HonkAPP is offered in neighboring municipalities – Welland, St. Catharines, and Niagara Falls – so it’s already familiar to many in the region. As with the HonkTAP option, drivers can pay via Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Interac, and all major credit cards.
“Drivers everywhere are now seeking safe and easy ways to pay for parking – It’s no longer a bonus, or nice-to-have,” said Michael Back, HONK Founder and CEO. “HONK is excited to expand our presence in cities across Ontario and give drivers access to the very best parking experience in the country.”
