VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — April 1, 2026 — The City of Virginia Beach is teaming up with HONK, North America’s leader in contactless parking technology, to bring effortless, mobile parking to everyone in the city. By adopting HONK’s digital platform, Virginia Beach is moving toward a faster, more streamlined parking experience designed to reduce congestion and simplify how drivers arrive and pay. Whether heading to the oceanfront or visiting the Town Center, residents and the millions of people who visit Virginia Beach annually can now enjoy a much smoother start to their time in the city – and residents receive a $50 parking voucher as part of the City’s “give back” initiative.
To thank the community, the City is providing a $50 parking voucher to every verified Virginia Beach resident. This exclusive benefit is managed directly through the HONK app. Once the initial credit is used, the program continues to support locals with a “bonus deal”: residents can purchase an additional one-time $50 of parking credit for only $25. Beyond the resident initiative, the City is prioritizing ease of use for all drivers by offering total flexibility in how they pay. The new system is built around choice:
- Guest Checkout: Visitors can pay instantly via “Tap-to-Pay” or “Text-to-Pay” — no app download or account setup required.
- The HONK App: Frequent parkers and residents can enjoy a “one-tap” experience, with the ability to store vehicle details, manage payments, and bookmark favorite zones.
- Universal Payments: The system supports how people want to pay today, including Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal, alongside all major credit cards.
