Honk’s Launch at Georgian College Signals the End of an Era for Parking Pay Stations on Campus

Honk, the innovative App transforming parking across North America, replaces gated parking system at Georgian College with mobile technology

BARRIE, ON, August 1st, 2018 – HonkMobile, North America’s fastest and most convenient way to find and pay for parking, today announced the launch of its mobile parking app at Georgian College. This is a huge undertaking where Honk’s technology is replacing an antiquated coin-only gated parking system to provide students, faculty and visitors with an easier, cashless method of paying for campus parking. The announcement marks a major milestone in Honk’s mission of transforming parking in the postsecondary market and signals an intent to expands its digital parking solution across Canada.

As of today, Georgian’s coin-operated gates will be removed to make way for Honk and an integrated license plate recognition system. The plan is for Georgian to remove all remaining pay stations by next year, making it one of the first mobile-only college campuses in North America. Students and faculty can save their change for the vending machines and pay for hourly or daily parking passes on the free mobile app, or at any of the Honk-enabled kiosks in the college buildings. The Honk app accepts all major credits cards, mobile wallets, PayPal and ONEcard.

The Honk app allows students, staff and visitors to seamlessly search, pay for, and top up parking directly from their smartphone, tablet or computer. Users receive a 15-minute reminder before their parking is set to expire and the app allows them to buy additional time remotely - perfect for when classes or library study sessions run late. In addition to the free mobile app that’s available for download in the Google Play or App Store, there are 10 internet enabled kiosks in select buildings on Georgian’s campus - perfect for visitors without a phone or those who are unable to download the app.
