Parliament Hill
Wellington St, Ottawa, ON
No visit to the Nation’s Capital is complete without a trip to Parliament Hill, also known as simply ‘The Hill’ to some. A little bit of history: When Queen Victoria chose Ottawa as the capital of Canada way back in 1859, the land that was developed into the Parliament buildings has remained there since — despite a fire back in 1916. Stop by, and you just might see Justin Trudeau walking the halls!

Rideau Canada
Ottawa, ON
The Rideau Canal, also known to many as the Rideau Waterway, connects Ottawa to both Lake Ontario and the Saint Lawrence River in Kingston. Originally built as a precaution in the event of war with our southern neighbours, today this world heritage site serves as the largest naturally frozen skating rink in the world (at 7.8 km long!). Spring and summer finds locals and tourists boating through the locks or enjoying waterway cruises.

National Gallery of Canada
380 Sussex Dr, Ottawa, ON
If you’re an art aficionado, the National Gallery of Canada should most certainly be on your ‘must-see’ list. To start, it’s home to the world’s most comprehensive collection of Canadian art (not surprising), including the Group of Seven, Emily Carr, and Tom Thomson. Art collections aside, the Gallery itself is housed in a beautiful glass and granite building with a million-dollar view of Parliament Hill, making it a popular venue for weddings!

ByWard Market
267 Dalhousie Street, Ottawa, ON
The ByWard Market is one of Canada’s oldest and largest farmers’ markets! It’s also the name of the neighbourhood that surrounds it — with some of the city’s best restaurants, bars, cafes, and boutiques nearby. Perhaps the ByWard Market’s most iconic stop (in our humble opinion) is the BeaverTail stand. Who can say no to a warm and gooey deep-fried pastry after a frigid skate on the Rideau Canal? Not us!

Canadian War Museum
1 Vimy Pl, Ottawa, ON
If you’re a history buff, or if you’d simply like to brush up on Canada’s military history, this is a site that’s not to be missed! The Canadian War Museum is our national museum of military history, where visitors can learn about Canada’s first recorded instances of battle several hundred years ago, or find out about which 21st century conflicts we’ve been involved in. The Museum also houses the Military History Research Centre.

Lansdowne Park
1525 Princess Patricia Way, Ottawa, ON
This 40-acre urban park, sports, exhibition, and entertainment facility is located in the Glebe, just adjacent to the Rideau Canal. Lansdowne Park is home to TD Place Stadium (where the Redblacks football team plays) and the Ottawa Civic Centre (where you’ll find OHL’s Ottawa 67s). Sports aside, this popular spot is also bustling with restaurants, shops, and a great many farmers’ markets and trade shows.

Find Parking in Ottawa

Ottawa is a very special city. Why? Because it’s the nation’s capital, of course! But there’s so much more to Ottawa than the Parliament Buildings and Justin Trudeau. (Full disclosure: This was written by an Ottawa native so it might be a little biased). Let’s start with nature lovers — they adore Ottawa because it offers so many outdoor activities for every season: boating, hiking, skiing (both cross country and downhill), and skating on the canal… just to name a few. When it comes to sports, Ottawa residents are fiercely loyal to their hometown NHL team, the Ottawa Senators. Thanks to the Ottawa Redblacks, Ottawa is also becoming a city with a growing admiration for football too. Foodies rejoice! The city is seriously in the midst of a food revolution — new restaurants boasting authentic cuisine and gastro dining seem to open every week. Ottawa is also known for its student vibe, seeing that it’s home to the University of Ottawa, Carleton University, and Algonquin College.

Ottawa native or not, it’s safe to say that this city has a special charm - and we’re so glad that parking doesn’t take away from it — with Honk’s help, that is. (And our presence is only poised to get bigger.)
